Call for Submissions: Essays from Marginalised Voices

In 2019, Parthian Books will publish an anthology of essays, which will platform a range of marginalised voices (including BAME, LGBTQ, people with mental health problems, neurodivergent, and disabled people). The aim of the book is to platform and celebrate diverse voices and identities from Wales, while giving the authors the freedom to write on any topic that they wish. We are especially looking to commission and publish new and emerging writers. Writers must be born, studying, living in, or have a connection to Wales.

How to submit:

In the first instance, please pitch up to 250 words of an original idea along with the first 500 words to help us get a feel for your writing style. Then, if we like your idea, we will ask you to write the complete 2000-2500 words of the essay.

Submissions must be made via email to parthianessays@gmail.com with your name and the title of your piece in the subject line. Submissions must be a Word document or PDF format. The email should include: entrant’s name, a working title of the idea. All submissions will be read anonymously so please make sure there are no names on the document.

Submissions must be written in the English language.

Submissions must be entirely the work of the entrant and must never have been previously published, in print or online, or broadcast, or won a prize in a writing competition. Submissions that are under consideration for publication elsewhere are not eligible.

Successful entries will achieve publication in the anthology and payment of £100. We will unfortunately not be able to comment or give feedback on entries that are not selected for publication.

The closing date for pitching ideas is 31st January 2019 at midnight GMT.
