Llansteffan Literary Festival is a week-long celebration of books, stories, and poetry running from June 3rd - June 10th. We're excited by the wealth of talented writers this year, coming from as near as Cardiff and as far as Latvia.
The festival also features local children's writer Huw Davies who will be working with Llansteffan Primary School, in addition to bilingual walks around the literary heritage of the village, and a lecture on the New History of Welsh Art by the renowned historian Peter Lord.
Also among these incredible writers is Roy Noble, who is joining the festival celebrations on 8th June when he appears at the Memorial Hall. His new book, Down the Road and Around the Bend is a selection of humorous and engrossing stories of traditional Wales.
Saturday evening features discussion and insight from two well-known Welsh writers – Rebecca F. John and Gary Raymond, and on Sunday, former British Lions Fullback Terry Davies talks about his remarkable life story. 'Radical Welsh Women' by Angela V. John is sure to be a fascinating feature on Sunday 10th June, and there’ll be an opportunity to show off your knowledge at the Great Literary Quiz on the Tuesday evening in the Sticks.
Poetry is a big feature of the festival, with Professor John Goodby of Swansea University talking at the Pound Gallery about the enduring influence of Dylan Thomas's work. Aditionally, Professor Tony Curtis will explore the influence of the Great War on poetry with the Historical Society at the Memorial Hall, and Angharad Rhys will be discussing the life and poetry of her mother, Lynette Roberts.
There is an international angle from visiting Latvian poet and craft brewer Krišjānis Zeļģis, coupled with local artist, Peter J. Jones, displaying a collection of paintings to accompany his popular book of Llansteffan-inspired poetry.
An exhibition of photographs of Welsh artists and writers will be open at Oriel Ozi throughout the week. The festival provides a real feast for every literary taste: Sunday 3rd to Sunday 10th of June.
