Literature Wales is leading a celebration of Welsh Literature in Germany with a visit by award-winning Parthian author Alys Conran to Berlin this week. During her visit, Alys will take part in two events - one with students of the Master in British Studies course Humboldt University (who have studied Pigeon), as well as a discussion and reading of both Pigeon and her new novel Dignity (W&N, 2019) open to the public. A great launch for Labour Country at Octavo's, Cardiff Bay last night. 'For me the festival began on the Friday evening, with the Poetry Showcase – an opportunity to hear from a wide range of poets, including some I’d never heard before. I was laughing out loud at Rhian Elizabeth’s poems, from her newly published book The Last Polar Bear on Earth, but equally impressed by the more subtle work in Rhys Owain Williams’ collection That Lone Ship and the surreal world of Norse mythology in Ross Cogan’s Bragr.
