Eric Ngalle Named one of Jackie Kay's 10 most exciting BAME writers

Eric Ngalle Charles has been selected by Jackie Kay as one of the ten most exciting BAME writers living or working in the UK today - as part of the International Literature Showcase (ILS). We are thrilled that Eric has received this wonderful recognition for his work.

The International Literature Showcase is a partnership between the National Centre for Writing and British Council, supported by Arts Council England and Creative Scotland. It is a two-year programme to promote writing from the UK to an international audience. The International Literature Showcase invites six guest curators to focus on different aspects of writing from the UK and launched with Elif Shafak’s selection of women writers at London Book Fair in March. In August, Val McDermid revealed her selection of LGBTQI+ writers at the National Library of Scotland.

These ten writers in Jackie’s words “open up the world to you and give you the world back.” The list serves as an invitation to explore further the diverse communities, individuals, histories and possible futures that make up a full and complete truth of contemporary British experience.

Eric's memoir I, Eric Ngalle, was published earlier this year and can be bought online here.

Today at 12.45pm, Cheltenham Literary Festival will be hosting an event with Jackie in which she will discuss her selected writers. The conversation can be watched live on Twitter and YouTube: https://buff.ly/2nN4mk2
